As a performance studies scholar, I treat interdisciplinary collaboration as a form of research rather than solely artistic production. Working with artists across dance, theatre, visual art, and writing allows me to explore how embodied knowledge is shaped through different creative systems and social scripts.

These collective experiments bridge theory and practice, making collaboration a methodological space where concepts of movement, relation, and social life are tested and transformed in real time. For me, working across disciplines is a core approach to understanding performance as both artistic practice and social inquiry.

Multi-D Working Group is a cross-disciplinary collective formed by Huang Suhuai, Liu Xiao, and Wang Yunke, working at the intersection of performance, dance, visual art, theatre, and research.Since 2024, the group has developed Notakinesis, a long-term performance and research project exploring how bodies are choreographed by social scripts — and how movement resists, disrupts, and reconfigures systems of notation, discipline, and collective life.
